Ward Lake is a lake worth visiting. A beautiful lake like Lake Butte in the neighborhood of Ward Lake is a great site to take a look at, and if you came for an overnight stay Fisherman's Cove Resort is a good site to camp. Do visit Empire Lake near Ward Lake, it's a wonderful lake; hiking along the Laws Trail is splendid fun. Camping is available at Tiffany's Resort, and you can have a brilliant hiking adventure along the Storm King Trail.

Bacon Creek is a wonderful local stream, and while you're here you can take a hike along the Empire Drive Trail. Ward Lake gets very little precipitation; December is when you get the most snow here while October is generally the driest month.

Interesting to see this area via google satelitte...in 1892 my paternal grandfather purchased 95.5 acres along the river at the China Bend area from the govt. It must have been repurchased by the Bureau of Reclamation when the Dam was being considered. Glad it's still beautiful.... |
