Mt. Spokane
Great Washington skiing, lots of black diamonds. Mount Spokane gets good snow and plenty of it. I love the left side of the mountain the most....
Fish Lake
15 miles away Fishing at Queen Lucas Lake is trespassing on railroad property, isn't it? It is right in between two railroads? Tell me is it open to the public? wstorer@hotmail.com...$2 entry for over 6 years. Small lake with swimming beach and dock. Picnic tables and newer playground. Nice grassy patches to lounge in the shade. 12 miles from down town Spokane, great little get away for a summer day. Can rent paddle boats. Drawbacks: This is a very small recreational facility, so can get crowded on holidays. The playground is separated from swimming area, so can't watch children at playground from your 'beach camp', limited number of picnic tables. Otherwise great value for the money!...

Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area
66 miles away Interesting to see this area via google satelitte...in 1892 my paternal grandfather purchased 95.5 acres along the river at the China Bend area from the govt. It must have been repurchased by the Bureau of Reclamation when the Dam was being considered. Glad it's still beautiful....
