    Thunder Lake is a lake worth visiting. This lake is located in the wonderful Northern Cascade Range. Summertime highs at Thunder Lake frequently tend to be in the 70's. When the night sets in temperatures sink down into the 50's. Throughout the wintertime this place gets highs in the 30's; night lows at Thunder Lake during the winter typically fall into the 20's. This lake is so wonderful. While you're here at Thunder Lake you can take a hike along the Sourdough  
   Lookout Trail, and do check out Colonial Creek if you're here at Thunder Lake.
Life's too short to enjoy all the enjoyable stuff in the Northern Cascade Range. Going for a hike along the Pyramid Lake Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this area; spots like Butler Brown Flats are fine to stop at. On a nice day at Thunder Lake you can take a hike along the Panther Creek Trail, and you ought to go to Thunder Arm when you're here. So many enjoyable
 
               things in the Northern Cascade Range, just extraordinary. You don’t have to go far from Thunder Lake to distinguish the water at Diablo Dam, and the sight of Colonial Peak is beautiful.
This lake is so wonderful. Do stop at Pyramid Lake in the vicinity of Thunder Lake, it's a pretty lake, and get wet paddling on Stetattle Creek. While you're here at Thunder Lake, you could also have a look at pretty Diablo Lake, and why not camp at Big Bear Campground since you're here at Thunder Lake.
Yeah, come here to Thunder Lake for a glorious time. Glide down the rapids of Granite Creek in a kayak, and a splendid site to camp here at Thunder Lake is Colonial Creek Campground. A great deal of rainfall falls at Thunder Lake; through November this area sees the most rain while July is usually the driest month.

Did this section July 21, 2007 in a tandem canoe, at about 1850. Had never done this section before. The description above seems accurate. Several large log jams, some completely blocking the river, forcing us to take some long and rough portages through thick brush and over huge piles of logs. Even when the river is not blocked, there are serious strainers at every bend. You really have to be alert to avoid them. A lot of work and danger for the few fun class II rapids you get within the first mile or so. We spent nearly three hours on portages and scouting and only about one hour actually on the water. Not recommended....
