In Washington there are many beautiful lakes, Sunset Lake is one of them. But wait, there's more to do near Sunset Lake. While you're here at Sunset Lake, you could also go to pretty Delanty Lake; a trip to close by Mill Point is very relaxing. Sunset Lake is pretty dried out usually; during the month of December you get the most rain around here, and July is the month with the least moisture. For the period of the summer, highs commonly are in the 70's

| | at Sunset Lake; during summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. During the wintertime highs are generally in the 40's, and all through the dark hours in the wintertime at Sunset Lake temperatures dip to the 30's. And that's not everything there is to do here in the Olympic Mountains. You'll need more than a day to discover everything Sunset Lake has to offer, you can camp at Leland Lake Campground, and soar down the rapids of Big Quilcene River in a kayak. | |

Have a great hiking adventure along the Mount Zion Trail; get yourself into a kayak and hit Big Quilcene River. A glorious nearby hotel is Inn at Port Hadlock, and lots of folks from Oak Harbor come here. This lake is so wonderful.
While you're here at Sunset Lake you can take a hike along the Bear Mountain Trail, and you'll find a picturesque lake called Moon Lake. This lake is one of the great places here in the Olympic Mountains. Just can't get enough
of the Olympic Mountains. Aladdin Motor Inns is a fine location to get some rest, and Sunset Lake is a magnificent location to visit for more than one day, Discovery Bay Camp-peniel's is a magnificent location to camp nearby. This
lake is so wonderful. Why not check out City Lakes Dam since you're here; hiking along the Deadfall Trail is pleasant fun.

Cattail Lake
 | 13 miles away Cattail Lake in within the Bangor Naval Submarine Base and has not been accessible (even to most navy personnel) since 911. I have not been to Cattail Lake in a long time. It is a small natural lake with no dam. I don't think there is public camping at the Erland Point Mobile Home Park or CRISTA Camps & Conference grounds. CRISTA Camps & Conference center is at the south end of Island Lake in Silverdale.... |
