Smith Lake in fact is in the middle of a beautiful outdoors paradise. Don’t forget to have a look at Connors Prairie if you're here at Smith Lake, and after a long day outdoors Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites LACEY is a delightful place to spend a night or two. | | the rain is December, and July is when it's the driest. Camping is available at Offut Lake Resort; while you're here and you like golf, you can pop by Capitol City Golf Club. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Nisqually River. This is a perfect area for people who like lakes. Chambers Lake is a lake close by, and Candlewood Suites OLYMPIA/ LACEY is a great place to get some rest. Through the summertime months at Smith Lake highs are typically in the 70's. | |

Summer nighttime lows fall down to the 50's. All through the winter this place gets highs in the 40's while Smith Lake nighttime low temperatures through the wintertime are in the 30's. This lake is so wonderful. Since you might
be in a lake visiting mood you can always take a look at nearby Southwick Lake, and you'll perhaps meet some people from Olympia here.

 | 17 miles away I have been swimming at this lake since i was a baby girl!!!...This is mainly a private lake for people who have houses on it. There is a boat launch which is very small and to the point. :) There is also a park for employees of a certain company which I forget the name of now. This lake is very clean and refreshing. Nisqually River
 | 18 miles away ...ly river since I was about 13 years old (27 now). The thing you should know about the Nisqually is that it is like most rivers, every year there is something new and unexpected. There are a few notable obstacles and log jams that have stuck over the past ten years or so. One of them is between McKenna and the Nisqually railroad trestle. It has been there as long as I can remember. But the river isn't too fast there and you should have plenty of time to get outta the way. The other problems are further down the river, the log jams that are past the Nisqually pines aren't too bad. Most of them are so far up on the river bank that only a few trees hang into the river ( not to say that there are none of them.) But the problem is that you raft right under the cliffs on FT. Lewis. They seem to like to throw cars off the cliffs and watch them hit the water.. Or this is a good way to dispose of stolen cars.. Because the water just churns and turns these cars into a spiky nightmare for the rafters and tubers of the Nisqually. I have yet to see one person go over the cars and not instantly blo... |
