Smith Lake is a great lake in an area with lots of outdoors fun all around. So much entertaining stuff to do in the Northern Cascade Range, not sufficient time. There's whitewater on Chewuch River for all you thrill seekers; the summit of Arnold Peak can be seen from Smith Lake. Smith Lake is one of the lakes here in the Northern Cascade Range. | | Horseshoe Pass, and if you came for an overnight stay Iron Gate Campground is a great location to camp. The Albert Camp Trail is a pleasant hiking trail right next door to Smith Lake, and unsurprisingly, this is a great neighborhood for folks who like lakes, Louden Lake is a lake in close proximity. This lake is so wonderful. Near Smith Lake you find the Deer Park Trail which is a delightful hiking trail, and perfect skiing awaits you at Loup Loup Ski Bowl. Around | |

Smith Lake you don’t get a lot of rain; December is the wettest month with most snow, and July on the other hand is the driest. Yeah, come here to Smith Lake for a great time. Don’t forget to visit Horsehoe Basin if you're here

Funk Mountain Trail
 | 18 miles away My husband and I, along with my sister and her boyfriend all hiked Funk Mountain Trail in June this year (2009). The trail mentioned here is mostly a cattle grazing area now, but you can hike up the old road to the Lookout, about 1.5 miles. Once there, the view is truly great. Be careful at the Lookout. I don't know how safe it is so use plenty of caution. The hike was fun; we met some friendly ATV'ers on the way up. There was an abundance of butterflies, and hot, yellow sunshine streaming down. This is an excellent hike for beginners, or those with bad knees or new shoes. The vistas are very pleasant, and there are no crowds.
The nearby town of Conconully is another high point for this trip. It's very small and has a contented, peaceful ambience. Conconully Lake doesn't have a great swim beach, but it's enjoyable for a canoe or kayak paddle on a warm day. ... |
