You just can't imagine the amount of outdoors fun things the area near Smelling Lake has to offer. This is a magnificent region for folks who like lakes. Chitwood Lake is a lake nearby, and a perfect close by hotel is Best Western Sky Valley Inn, Monroe. Smelling Lake gets lots of water; December is the wettest month with most rain; the driest month is July. There's so much to do here at Smelling Lake that you need to       camp here for a while, Turlo Campground is a good spot for that, and if you don't mind getting covered with water, you can always go whitewater paddling on Pilchuck River. All through the warm months, highs usually are in the 70's at Smelling Lake. When the night sets in temperatures descend down into the 50's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 40's while the cold winter nights at Smelling Lake are in the 30's. You're most likely keen                  on lakes, Lake Julia is one of those close by, and why not take a little journey to Worthy Creek if you're here. The Northern Cascade Range scenery is always beautiful. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Northern Cascade Range. On a great day at Smelling Lake you can take a hike along the Finney Peak Trail. This lake is so wonderful. A good spot for whitewater paddling in close proximity to Smelling Lake is Stillaguamish River - South Fork, and if you came to camp Verlot Campground is a good place to do that.
