If you are in this part of Washington make sure to pay a visit to Slate Lake. Slate Lake is located in the Northern Cascade Range. You feel that's sufficient? Just getting warmed up. After a long day outdoors Best Western Lakeside Lodge & Suites is a magnificent place to spend a night or two, and not far from Slate Lake you'll hit upon Abernathy Lake which is a picturesque lake. If you come at the right time of year, Lost River offers some great whitewater.

| | Lakes are good; Little Slate Lake is a lake that's near Slate Lake. For the period of the days of summer at Slate Lake highs are mostly in the 80's. Throughout the dark hours of summer temperatures descend down into the 50's. Highs throughout the wintertime are mostly in the 30's, and overnight lows through the winter for Slate Lake tend to be in the 20's. This lake is so wonderful. to camp, and close by you discover the Driveway Butte Trail which is a great hiking trail. Just can't get enough of the Northern Cascade Range. Hubbard Creek flows through this region, and going for a hike on the Monument Creek Trail
is always a tremendous adventure. And if that's not enough there's a lot more enjoyable stuff to do in the Northern Cascade Range. Glide down the rapids of Methow River in a kayak. The amount of rainfall that falls at Slate Lake
is close to the national average; the month of December is the wettest with most of the snow, and July meanwhile is the driest month. Go for a hike on the West Fork Methow Trail; Poplar Flat Campground is a perfect local campground.
