Skookumchuck Reservoir generally gets a great deal of precipitation; during December this area sees the most rain, and July on the other hand is the driest. No way I can stop, cause I'm havin' a great time here at Skookumchuck Reservoir. Skookumchuck Reservoir is brilliant enough to spend more than a day at, Thousand Trails is a brilliant local campground, and naturally Bloody Run flows through this region. This spot, the Northern Cascade Range, has so much outdoors
fun stuff. Paddling on Nisqually River is so much fun, and a brilliant location to camp here at Skookumchuck Reservoir is Offut Lake Resort.
This lake is so wonderful. Deschutes River has a glorious whitewater paddling spot close by, and you can take a little trip to Skookumchuck Dam since you're here at Skookumchuck Reservoir. Dry warm beds await you at Holiday Inn Express OCEAN SHORES, and during your trip here you'll meet some folks from Centralia for sure.

Throughout the summer at Skookumchuck Reservoir temperatures are ordinarily in the 70's. Summer nighttime lows dip down to the 40's. For the duration of the winter this place gets highs in the 40's, and after the sun is down all through the wintertime temperatures at Skookumchuck Reservoir fall into the 30's.
So much cool stuff to do in the Northern Cascade Range, not enough time. A lovely lake like McIntosh Lake close to Skookumchuck Reservoir is a good site to stop by. If you need a location to stay Super 8 Lacey Olympia Area is a good choice, and you'll hit upon a pretty lake called Lake Fifteen. The Northern Cascade Range scenery is always beautiful.

Nisqually River
13 miles away
...y river since I was about 13 years old (27 now). The thing you should know about the Nisqually is that it is like most rivers, every year there is something new and unexpected. There are a few notable obstacles and log jams that have stuck over the past ten years or so. One of them is between McKenna and the Nisqually railroad trestle. It has been there as long as I can remember. But the river isn't too fast there and you should have plenty of time to get outta the way. The other problems are further down the river, the log jams that are past the Nisqually pines aren't too bad. Most of them are so far up on the river bank that only a few trees hang into the river ( not to say that there are none of them.) But the problem is that you raft right under the cliffs on FT. Lewis. They seem to like to throw cars off the cliffs and watch them hit the water.. Or this is a good way to dispose of stolen cars.. Because the water just churns and turns these cars into a spiky nightmare for the rafters and tubers of the Nisqually. I have yet to see one person go over the cars and not instantly blow...
