Cannon Mountain is trouble-free to spot from Shield Lake, and dry warm beds await you at Best Western Icicle Inn. The Northern Cascade Range scenery is always beautiful. Shield Lake is a wet site that gets lots of precipitation; most of the snow falls during January, and the driest of the months is July. This lake is so wonderful. The Enchantment Peaks towers over Shield Lake; you can go for a hike on the Snow Lakes Trail. That       right there is lots already, but it carries on; Shield Lake has it all. You have to positively dedicate some time to Enchantment Basin if you're here at Shield Lake; Lake Viviane is a nearby lake that you could stop at. High temperatures at Shield Lake throughout the summertime are in the 60's. For the duration of the dark hours of summer temperatures plunge down into the 40's. The winter brings highs down to the 20's while Shield Lake overnight low temperatures all                  through the winter are in the 10's. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Northern Cascade Range. Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend Icicle Creek, and tremendous hiking is available along the County Line Trail. Do check out Temple Lake in the vicinity of Shield Lake, it's a stunning lake, and Shield Lake is right next door to Enchantment Pass which is certainly worth checking out. All the outdoors cool stuff in the Northern Cascade Range will keep you coming back over and over. If you need a location to stay Quality Inn & Suites is a great choice, and you're sure to stumble upon some cheerful people from Ellensburg here. There's so much to do here at Shield Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Eightmile Campground is a great place for that, and there's whitewater on Icicle Creek for all you adrenaline junkies. This is no site for people who don’t like to have a good time.
