Do stop by Sheehan Lake while you're in this part of Washington. Life's too short to enjoy all the enjoyable stuff close to Sheehan Lake. Olympia Campgrounds is a good local campground; while you're here you can play some golf at Capitol City Golf Club. This lake is so wonderful. Why not camp at Offut Lake Resort since you're here at Sheehan Lake, and during your tour here you'll meet some people from Olympia for sure. For the period of the months of summer,

| | highs ordinarily are in the 70's at Sheehan Lake. When the night sets in temperatures fall down into the 50's. The winter brings highs down to the 40's, and after the sun is down through the winter temperatures at Sheehan Lake plunge into the 30's. Springer Lake is a great lake close to Sheehan Lake; whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then, we recommend Deschutes River. a wonderful location to pop by. Sheehan Lake gets a good deal of water; through December this area sees the most rain, and July is when it's the driest. There's whitewater on Nisqually River for all you adrenaline kick people,
and if you need a site to stay Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites LACEY is a magnificent choice. Spurgeon Creek is a brilliant site to stop by; dry warm beds await you at Best Western Tumwater Inn.

Mason Lake

There is a boat launch which is very small and to the point. :) There is also a park for employees of a certain company which I forget the name of now. This lake is very clean and refreshing. Nisqually River
 | 19 miles away ... most rivers, every year there is something new and unexpected. There are a few notable obstacles and log jams that have stuck over the past ten years or so. One of them is between McKenna and the Nisqually railroad trestle. It has been there as long as I can remember. But the river isn't too fast there and you should have plenty of time to get outta the way. The other problems are further down the river, the log jams that are past the Nisqually pines aren't too bad. Most of them are so far up on the river bank that only a few trees hang into the river ( not to say that there are none of them.) But the problem is that you raft right under the cliffs on FT. Lewis. They seem to like to throw cars off the cliffs and watch them hit the water.. Or this is a good way to dispose of stolen cars.. Because the water just churns and turns these cars into a spiky nightmare for the rafters and tubers of the Nisqually. I have yet to see one person go over the cars and not instantly blow there raft apart.. Just keep a good eye out for any colors that don't belong in the river. Sometimes its just a ... |
