Scout Lake is a beautiful lake in the Olympic Mountains. And if that's not enough there's a lot more enjoyable stuff to do in the Olympic Mountains. Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always have a look at close by Lake of the Angels, and if you need a place to stay Alderbrook Resort and Spa is a delightful choice. If you're visiting Scout Lake from Shelton, you won't be the only one. Lakes are good; Hagen Lake is a lake that's near Scout Lake.

| | This lake is so wonderful. Going for a hike along the Royal Creek Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this region. There's so much to do here at Scout Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Lena Creek Campground is a nice location for that. This lake is so wonderful. On a great day at Scout Lake you can take a hike along the Mount Jupiter Trail, and if the weather is wonderful, you can go for a hike along the Baldy Trail. The high level of | |

precipitation makes Scout Lake a relatively wet site; the wettest month of the year is usually December, that's the one that rains the most; July is when it's the driest. Yep, outdoors cool things to do are really abundant here
at Scout Lake. You can run the rapids of Skokomish River - North Fork in close proximity to Scout Lake, and here at Scout Lake you can catch a glimpse of Mount Lena. There's whitewater on Hamma Hamma River for all you adrenaline rush
seekers, and you can stay the night at Lena Lake Campground. Just can't get enough of the Olympic Mountains. Crazy Creek is a beautiful stream that is worth stopping at, and Super 8 Shelton is a fine place to get some rest. The
warmest time of the year brings highs in the 70's to Scout Lake. When the night sets in temperatures dip down into the 50's. The winter brings highs down to the 40's, and night lows in the 30's for Scout Lake.

Upper Elk Lake
 | It's been about 6yrs. since I was last at upper Elk Lake,It was my most favorite place to camp. If you were lucky, and got the only camp site on the lake,the lake was yours. The water was so crystal clear, you could almost see the bottom. The fishing was't bad either. There are plenty of trails and creeks to explore.Including Jefferson creek, which will lead you to lower Elk Lake. My children loved this spot as much as I. There was also a rope swing on the other side of the lake.It was heaven. My youngest daughter traveled back to the lake this summer (2008). She says the lake is destroyed, with water plants and logs,she says the water is no longer clear. This makes me sad, I may just have to plan a trip to see for myself.... |

 | This river is only very rough in the winter/spring time, so unless you're very good don't ride the rapids in the winter/spring. The rest of the year it's about like the flaming geyser river with rapids lots of shallow rocks.... |
