Schaefer Creek Campground is a wonderful local campground. And that's not all the things to do here in the Northern Cascade Range. Don't leave Schaefer Lake without first going for a hike along the Pacific Crest Trail - section 26; Best Western Icicle Inn       is a good site to get some rest. At Schaefer Lake throughout the warm days of summer highs are in the 70's. When the night sets in temperatures fall down into the 50's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 30's, and winter nights come with lows in the 20's to Schaefer Lake. Why not camp at Atkinson Flat Campground while you're here at Schaefer Lake, and you're most likely into lakes, D Lake is one of those nearby. A great deal of rainfall falls at Schaefer                  Lake; November is when you get the most rain here while July is the month with the least amount of precipitation. This lake is so wonderful. Good hiking is available along the Miners Creek Trail, and needless to say, this is a great area for folks who like lakes, Twin Lakes is a lake in close proximity.
