This lake is one of the great places here in the Olympic Mountains. So many fun things to do at Rose Lake, so little time. A great nearby hotel is Super 8 Shelton, and as expected, this is a good region for folks who like lakes, Stevens Lake is a lake close by. Summer brings highs in the 70's to Rose Lake. Summer nighttime lows descend down to the 50's. All through the wintertime highs are commonly in the 40's while the cold winter nights at Rose Lake are

Rose Lake is a wet location that gets much rainfall; throughout December this area sees the most rain, and the driest of the months is July. This lake is so wonderful. Golf can be played at Lake Cushman Golf Course, and get drenched paddling on Vance Creek. Just can't get enough of the Olympic Mountains. Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always visit nearby Lake May; camping is available at Minerva Beach Mobile Village.

Resort and Spa is a pleasant place to get some rest, and if you're looking for some flowing water? Try McTaggert Creek. And if that's not enough there's loads more cool stuff to do in the Olympic Mountains. Whitewater paddling is
good on Skokomish River - South Fork. If you're visiting Rose Lake from Shelton, you won't be the only one, and if you came for an overnight stay Potlatch State Park Campground is a splendid location to camp.

Upper Elk Lake

It's been about 6yrs. since I was last at upper Elk Lake,It was my most favorite place to camp. If you were lucky, and got the only camp site on the lake,the lake was yours. The water was so crystal clear, you could almost see the bottom. The fishing was't bad either. There are plenty of trails and creeks to explore.Including Jefferson creek, which will lead you to lower Elk Lake. My children loved this spot as much as I. There was also a rope swing on the other side of the lake.It was heaven. My youngest daughter traveled back to the lake this summer (2008). She says the lake is destroyed, with water plants and logs,she says the water is no longer clear. This makes me sad, I may just have to plan a trip to see for myself.... |

I have been swimming at this lake since i was a baby girl!!!...This is mainly a private lake for people who have houses on it. There is a boat launch which is very small and to the point. :) There is also a park for employees of a certain company which I forget the name of now. This lake is very clean and refreshing. It is great for boats and inter tubing and swimming all the same :) Love this Lake!!...THERE IS A PUBLIC AREA AT THIS PARK,BOATING SWIM AND PICNIC AREA... |
