Gate Creek Campground is a great local campground, and if you don't mind getting wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Methow River. If you get bored of Rampart Lake, you could also explore close by Johnny Lakes, and going for a hike along the Monument Creek Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this vicinity. Having a great time in the Northern Cascade Range is easy. From Rampart Lake you obtain a magnificent       panorama of Lost Peak; Lost River is a glorious whitewater spot nearby. All the outdoors cool things right next door to Rampart Lake will keep you coming back repeatedly. While you're here at Rampart Lake you can take a hike along the Boundary Trail, and Rampart Lake is a perfect location to visit for more than one day, Ballard Campground is a perfect location to camp nearby. This lake is so wonderful. On a fine day at Rampart Lake you can take a hike along                  the Driveway Butte Trail, and a lake nearby is Island Lake. But wait, there's more fun stuff to do in the Northern Cascade Range. Rampart Lake is commonly a relatively arid spot; December is the wettest month with most snow while July is the month with the least amount of precipitation. Through the summertime months at Rampart Lake highs are regularly in the 80's, and throughout the night it cools down to the 50's. Throughout the winter the highs are usually in the 20's while the cold winter nights at Rampart Lake are in the 10's.
