I enjoyed camping at Power Lake. It was a great, cleaN, and friendly campground. Although the lake is not very pretty there is a great creek. I enjoyed just chilling in the creek. - Katrina Hartzog

What a nice lake Power Lake is. At Power Lake you don’t see much precipitation; December is when you get the most snow here while July is the month with the least amount of precipitation. Bear Paw Camp & Retreat Center is a glorious local campground, and do go to Knapp Pond, it's a stunning lake. Head up to 49 Degrees North and strap some skis to your feet; if you came for an overnight stay Jerry's Landing Resort is a delightful place to camp.
This lake is

so wonderful. There's always Power Lake Dam to take a look at close to Power Lake; swing by North Fork Calispell Creek it's a nice site to visit. But wait, there's more to do near Power Lake. The snow is magnificent at Mt. Spokane; you'll discover a lovely lake called Calispell Lake.
Summertime brings highs in the 80's to Power Lake, and the overnight is rather cooler of course, regularly in the 40's. For the duration of the winter highs are in the 30's; throughout the dark hours in the wintertime at Power Lake temperatures dip to the 10's.

Ski Area History
The town of Chewelah (est. 1883) has long been a gateway for a myriad of outdoor recreational activities especially skiing. Skiing at Chewelah Peak (elev. 5,773 ft) has attracted numerous year-round recreational users since before the Flowery Trail Road was opened to motorized traffic in the early 1930?s. The Colville National Forest formally recognized the winter use of Chewelah Peak in approximately 1935. A permit was issued for development of a site approximately two miles west of the present site of 49ø North Mountain Resort. The completion of Cy?s Hut in 1936 and a rope tow in 1939 firmly established winter recreation on Chewelah Peak. Cy?s Hut burned in 1949. After the completion of the two story Chewelah Mountain Lodge in 1950 and installation of a double chair lift in 1951, the area experienced an increased volume of recreational users and tourists. Over a period of years, obsolescence of the lift and lack of...
