     Lakes are such serene places, why not stop at Pierre Lake right next door to Pittman Lake. You'll need more than a day to explore everything Pittman Lake has to offer, you can camp at Pierre Lake Campground. Through the summer at Pittman Lake temperatures are regularly in the 80's; the overnight is quite cooler of course, commonly in the 40's. For the period of the winter this place gets highs in the 30's, and after the sun is down through the winter temperatures  
   at Pittman Lake drop into the 10's. If you need a spot to stay Comfort Inn Colville is a wonderful choice. You might want to pay a visit to Box Canyon if you're here at Pittman Lake, and a scenic lake like Little Pierre Lake is a great place to go to.
This lake is so wonderful. Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area is a very magnificent place to pop by next to Pittman Lake, and don't forget to take a perfect little journey to Pierre Creek. And if that's
 
               not enough, there's plenty more to do near Pittman Lake. There's so much to do here at Pittman Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Kettle River Campground is a tremendous place for that; soar down the rapids of Kettle River in a kayak. First Thought Mountain can be seen from Pittman Lake, and if you come at the right time of year, Sherman Creek offers some splendid whitewater.
It is very waterless here at Pittman Lake usually; December is when you get the most snow here while September is typically the driest month.

Interesting to see this area via google satelitte...in 1892 my paternal grandfather purchased 95.5 acres along the river at the China Bend area from the govt. It must have been repurchased by the Bureau of Reclamation when the Dam was being considered. Glad it's still beautiful....
