     Pierce Lake is great enough to spend more than a day at, Black Lake Resort is a great local campground, and McDonald Mountain is charming and can be spotted from here. Yeah, come here to Pierce Lake for a great time. All our national parks are perfect locations to pop by, and Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area is no exception. Summertime highs at Pierce Lake mostly tend to be in the 80's, and all through the night it cools down to the 50's. High temperatures  
   during the winter are normally in the 30's, and nighttime lows at Pierce Lake throughout the wintertime ordinarily descend into the 10's. Pierce Lake is typically a relatively dried out site; the month with most of the snow is December, and September is the month with the least moisture.
You could also pop by Bayley Lake while you're here at Pierce Lake; it's close by, and a pleasant site to camp here at Pierce Lake is Flodelle Campground. A day on the slopes
 
               of 49 Degrees North is just what you need, and North Fork Bear Creek is one of the streams close by that might be worth checking out. This lake is so wonderful. Nearby lakes? Sure, McDowell Lake is in the vicinity of Pierce Lake; a magnificent close by hotel is Comfort Inn Colville.

...l Road is considered an important transportation conduit from the Colville Valley to the Pend Oreille River Valley. 49ø North is accessed via Flowery Trail Road approximately 10 miles East of the town of Chewelah, and 16 miles west of the town of Usk. Flowery Trail Road from the town of Chewelah is a paved, two-lane road that underwent an extensive face-lift courtesy of the Federal Highways Department. Flowery Trail Road from Usk was also re-aligned and paved offering a beautiful new route to our parking lot. The project was completed prior to the 2006/2007 winter season.
Climate
The climate at 49ø North Mountain Resort is similar to other higher altitude mountain settings; however, due to its geographical location, the ski area experiences different weather patterns than other Pacific Northwest ski areas. Situated in the southern Selkirk Mountains, the ski area has a unique climate due to its location one mile east of Flowery Trail Pass (4,046 ft) that produces moderate temperatures with consistent snow pack at higher elevations. Interesting to see this area via google satelitte...in 1892 my paternal grandfather purchased 95.5 acres along the river at the China Bend area from the govt. It must have been repurchased by the Bureau of Reclamation when the Dam was being considered. Glad it's still beautiful....
