A visit to Pear Lake is always a good idea. Whohoo, so much fun stuff in one place! The Northern Cascade Range is excellent! Stay the night at East Side Buck Creek Campground. You'll discover a lovely lake called Lake Kawkawak near Pear Lake, and you can have a glorious hiking adventure along the Camp Creek Ridge Trail. | | of precipitation. Throughout the warm months at Pear Lake highs are mostly in the 70's. When the night sets in temperatures dip down into the 50's. Highs throughout the winter are regularly in the 40's, and overnight lows in the 20's for Pear Lake. Pear Lake is one of the lakes here in the Northern Cascade Range. all you adrenaline junkies; a striking lake like Boulder Lake is a brilliant place to stop by. You'll need more than a day to discover everything Pear Lake has to offer, you can camp at Downey Creek Campground, and if you're here
you can take a hike along the Fire Creek Way. Be careful coming to Pear Lake, you might not ever want to go home again. There are some wonderful whitewater spots on Suiattle River, and what would winter be without some skiing at Stephens
Pass. This lake is so wonderful. Hurricane Peak is clearly visible from Pear Lake, and hiking along the Meadow Mountain Trail is glorious fun.

 | Did this section July 21, 2007 in a tandem canoe, at about 1850. Had never done this section before. The description above seems accurate. Several large log jams, some completely blocking the river, forcing us to take some long and rough portages through thick brush and over huge piles of logs. Even when the river is not blocked, there are serious strainers at every bend. You really have to be alert to avoid them. A lot of work and danger for the few fun class II rapids you get within the first mile or so. We spent nearly three hours on portages and scouting and only about one hour actually on the water. Not recommended.... |

Stephens Pass
 | 28 miles away 1 PHOTO Stevens has a wide diversity of trails and runs that suits every riding style. From beginner to expert and for those terrain park junkies Stevens has you covered. I think what's special about Stevens is you can find your own little part of the mountain which is all yours, I have 4-5 little runs that cross between trails and off-piste that are all mine. Also the snow is crazy good, powder almost all the time. My favorite runs are Orion, some tree skiing near wall street, and right above the power lines. Stevens also has some pretty sweet out of bounds stuff to so check it out... |
