If you like lakes and you're in this part of Washington you can check out Olallie Lake. Going for a hike on the Highline Trail is always a good adventure, and Olallie Lake is not the only location nearby, Council Lake is a nearby lake. But wait, there's more cool stuff to do in the Northern Cascade Range. The Divide Camp Trail is a great hiking trail right next door to Olallie Lake; if you get bored of Olallie Lake you could also stop at nearby Chain Of Lakes.

There is a wonderful hiking trail in the vicinity of Olallie Lake called the Table Mountain Trail, and get covered with water paddling on Lewis River - North Fork. Olallie Lake is one of the lakes here in the Northern Cascade Range. Why not camp at Olallie Lake Campground if you're here at Olallie Lake, and paddling on Cispus River is so much fun. Sheep Creek is a stream you can have a look at while you're here; Council Bluff is a good location to explore while in the neighborhood. Summertime highs at Olallie Lake usually tend to be in the 70's, and through the night it cools
down to the 40's. Highs through the winter are typically in the 30's; winter nights come with lows in the 20's to Olallie Lake. All the water falling down from the sky makes Olallie Lake a wet site; most of the snow falls during December; July on the other hand is the driest.

 | Hi, I have tried to climb this mountain, but the there are very little trail markers and the Columbian write ups on directions were not even close to actuality. I am trying to locate specific directions since there are several different forks. You have all these coordinates but if you don't have or use a GPS they are useless. Alas, you can't help me anymore than what's available out there, which is nothing really.... |

Bench Lake
 | 16 miles away 1 PHOTO This is Bench Lake in the Bird Creek area of Mt. Adams, Washington. This is located on the Yakama Reservation portion of land called Tract D which was Treaty land deeded back to the tribes in 1973. Mt. Adams plays peekaboo here with Little Mt. Adams.
The ranger of this area, Richard Canapo, stays in a trailer up the hill at the entrance by Mirror Lake and is a good source of local information as well as maps of the trails in the area. Permits are as follows:
Entry permit... $5. 00 for a 5 day entry fee
Camping and fishing permits are in addition to entry fees and are:
Camping... $10. 00 per night per space Fishing ... $5. 00 per day or $10. 00 for 5 days
You can have up to 12 pieces of split firewood per night of camping.
I should add that the road in to this lake is a bit rough and rocky, a narrow dirt road. Be cautious watching for other traffic, and I would not take an extremely low car in here. Last trip someone put a hole in a crankcase of a PT Cruiser... This can be avoided by careful driving! ... |
