Why not stop by Nordby Lake if you're passing through these parts. During the days of summer, highs typically are in the 70's at Nordby Lake. For the duration of the dark hours of summer temperatures plunge down into the 50's. Through the winter highs are ordinarily in the 40's, and winter nights come with lows in the 30's to Nordby Lake. | | Motel - Shelton, and Lake Cushman Resort is a great local campground. There's no way someone can get bored here in the Olympic Mountains. Whitewater paddling is great on Hamma Hamma River, and you're most likely into lakes, Lake Kakanee is one of those nearby. The high level of precipitation makes Nordby Lake a pretty wet place; the wettest month of the year is ordinarily December, that's the one that rains the most, and July is when it's the driest. exciting stuff to do in the Olympic Mountains, not enough time. In case you don’t have a problem getting dripping wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Skokomish River - South Fork, and Nordby Lake is a spot with many visitors
from Shelton. This lake is so wonderful. Lower Cushman Dam is an exciting thing to check out, and there's great hiking along the Mount Jupiter Trail. Alderbrook Resort And Spa is a nice spot to get some rest, and Minerva Beach Mobile
Village is a fine campground nearby. This place is so good, just check out all the cool things to do close to Nordby Lake. While you're here at Nordby Lake you can play some golf at Lake Cushman Golf Course. Lakes are great; Lake
Kokanee is a lake that's in the neighborhood of Nordby Lake. Why not visit nearby Dow Creek if you're here at Nordby Lake, and Dow Mountain is scenic and can be seen from here.

Upper Elk Lake
 | It's been about 6yrs. since I was last at upper Elk Lake,It was my most favorite place to camp. If you were lucky, and got the only camp site on the lake,the lake was yours. The water was so crystal clear, you could almost see the bottom. The fishing was't bad either. There are plenty of trails and creeks to explore.Including Jefferson creek, which will lead you to lower Elk Lake. My children loved this spot as much as I. There was also a rope swing on the other side of the lake.It was heaven. My youngest daughter traveled back to the lake this summer (2008). She says the lake is destroyed, with water plants and logs,she says the water is no longer clear. This makes me sad, I may just have to plan a trip to see for myself.... |

Mason Lake

There is a boat launch which is very small and to the point. :) There is also a park for employees of a certain company which I forget the name of now. This lake is very clean and refreshing. It is great for boats and inter tubing and swimming all the same :) Love this Lake!!...THERE IS A PUBLIC AREA AT THIS PARK,BOATING SWIM AND PICNIC AREA... |
