    Beautiful Nicholas Lake has much to offer visitors. If you came for an overnight stay Log Cabin Resort is a brilliant location to camp, and obviously, A tour to Cuba Canyon is always fun. This lake is so wonderful. If time allows, Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area is a national park worth going to. Lakes are glorious; La Fleur Lake is a lake that's next to Nicholas Lake. Around Nicholas Lake you don’t get a lot of rain; December is when you get the most  
   snow here, and October meanwhile is the driest month.
This lake is so wonderful. Through the warmest time of the year highs here at Nicholas Lake get into the 80's, and throughout the night it cools down to the 40's. The winter comes with highs in the 20's while the cold winter nights at Nicholas Lake are in the 10's. Why not camp at Lake Ellen Campground if you're here at Nicholas Lake; in the event that you don't mind getting covered with water, you can
 
               always go whitewater paddling on Sherman Creek.
Staehly Mountain is clearly visible from Nicholas Lake, and dry warm beds await you at Comfort Inn Colville. This is a nice vicinity for folks who like lakes. Lake Ellen is a lake close by, and you can have a magnificent hiking adventure along the Daisy Trail. Life's too short to enjoy all the amusing stuff close to Nicholas Lake. Cedar Creek is one of the streams nearby that might be worth visiting, and hiking along the White Mountain Trail is pleasant fun.

Interesting to see this area via google satelitte...in 1892 my paternal grandfather purchased 95.5 acres along the river at the China Bend area from the govt. It must have been repurchased by the Bureau of Reclamation when the Dam was being considered. Glad it's still beautiful....
