You'll meet a lot of folks from Ellensburg here; why not take a refreshing hike along the Frost Mountain Lookout Trail. You can run the rapids of Tieton River in the neighborhood of Mud Lake, and hiking is a popular thing to do around Mud Lake; Keenan Meadows Trail is a good local trail. Mud Lake is right by the Fishhook Flats Trail, and since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can       always have a look at close by Little Mud Lake. And if that's not enough, there's heaps more to do in the neighborhood of Mud Lake. A brilliant spot for whitewater paddling near Mud Lake is Naches River, and Mud Lake is great enough to spend more than a day at, Hanging Tree Campground is a great local campground. This lake is so wonderful. If you need a location to stay Comfort Suites Yakima is a tremendous choice. During the summer highs here at Mud Lake                  get into the 80's, and through the night it cools down to the 50's. During the winter the highs are frequently in the 30's, and overnight lows in the 20's for Mud Lake. Horseshoe Bend is an interesting spot to stop by while at Mud Lake, and as expected, this is a great area for people who like lakes, Tim Ponds is a lake nearby. Around Mud Lake you don’t get a lot of rainfall; throughout the month of December you get the most snow around here while July is regularly the driest month. If you crave a little side journey, try Cougar Canyon.
