McKinley Lake is a wet place that gets lots of rain; during December this area sees the most rain while July is mostly the driest month. This lake is so wonderful. Now, you may feel that's lots but there's even more amusing things to do here in the Northern Cascade Range. Lakes? Sure, Lake Scanewa is close at hand, and in the event that you don't mind getting soaked, you can always go whitewater       paddling on Cowlitz River. If you have a thing about the outdoors, you'll like McKinley Lake. Mineral Lake Resort is a fine campground nearby; the Independence Pass Interpretive Trail is a wonderful hiking trail nearby. A glorious place for whitewater paddling right next door to McKinley Lake is Mineral Creek - North Fork; the top of Johnson Mountain is easily spotted from McKinley Lake. Don't miss out on a spree to Mount Rainier National Park since you're                  here at McKinley Lake, and there is a splendid hiking trail close by called the Fawn Lake Trail. Whohoo, so much cool stuff in one place! The Northern Cascade Range rocks! Ladd Pond is a magnificent lake near McKinley Lake, and if the weather is wonderful, you can go for a hike along the Osborne Mountain Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Econo Lodge Buckley is a perfect location to get some rest, and if you came for an overnight stay Taidnapam Park is a tremendous place to camp. Summertime at McKinley Lake comes with high temperatures in the 70's. For the duration of the moonlight hours it's usually in the 40's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 40's while the cold winter nights at McKinley Lake are in the 30's.
