A good nearby hotel is Sun Mountain Lodge, and whitewater paddling is perfect on Granite Creek. This lake is located in the wonderful Northern Cascade Range. This lake is so wonderful. There's perfect hiking along the Rainbow Lake Trail. Just can't get enough of the Northern Cascade Range. The panorama of delightful Hock Mountain near McAlester Lake is perfect,       and the West Fork Methow Trail offers hiking at its best. For the duration of the summer months highs here at McAlester Lake get into the 80's; the overnight is a tad colder of course, usually in the 50's. All through the winter highs are in the 30's; after the sun is down during the wintertime temperatures at McAlester Lake dip into the 20's. You think that's sufficient? Just getting warmed up. You'll stumble on a stunning lake called Twisp Lake near McAlester                  Lake, and why not take a refreshing hike along the Driveway Butte Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Take a little tour to Bowan Creek if you're here at McAlester Lake, and why not camp at Rainbow Falls Campground while you're here at McAlester Lake. McAlester Pass is a great spot to explore near McAlester Lake, and Company Creek Campground is a magnificent local campground. Do explore Dagger Lake close to McAlester Lake, it's a picturesque lake, and in case you don’t have a problem getting covered with water, you can always go whitewater paddling on Stehekin River.
