I sent a couple of hours fishing there at one of the few access spots to see how it fished. I was fortunate enough to land a trout about 27 inches long. Not to bad for a couple hours. Caught using a rooster tail spinner. Gotta give it a try. Robbie: Little Ashes lake is a medium sized spillway from the Columbia River. There is not much public access to the lake. The lake is boundaried on the southwest side by Highway 14. and all the rest is Private property. No way to launch a boat, but I have float tubed it. There are no trails to hike around this lake. You won't want to swim in it since it is columbia river water. The fishing is unproductive as i fished it and never caught a single bass or trout, only sucker fish and perch. My advice is to just enjoy the sight of this lake, but venturing into it is a waste of time. Be careful coming to the Central Cascade Range, you might not ever wanna go back home again. Trout Creek is a glorious whitewater spot in the vicinity of Little Ashes Lake; after a long day outdoors Skamania Lodge is a magnificent location to spend       a night or two. Lots of folks from Hood River come to Little Ashes Lake; you can take a little trip to Little Brush Lake Dam since you're here at Little Ashes Lake. For the duration of the warm months highs here at Little Ashes Lake get into the 70's with overnight lows in the 50's. During the winter highs are in the 40's; overnight lows through the wintertime for Little Ashes Lake tend to be in the 30's. That right there is plenty of amusing things already                  but it goes on, the Central Cascade Range has it all. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Little Ashes Lake; Eagle Creek Trail is a magnificent local trail, and near Little Ashes Lake you stumble on a golf course called Beacon Rock Golf Course. The Central Cascade Range scenery is always beautiful. This lake is so wonderful. Good hiking is available along the Tanner Butte Trail. There's so much to do here at Little Ashes Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Dolce Skamania Lodge is a pleasant place for that. This lake is so wonderful. Don't leave Little Ashes Lake without first going for a hike along the Tanner Cutoff Trail; Rock Cove is rather close. You'll wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the enjoyable stuff at Little Ashes Lake. Crystal Spring is an inspiring place to visit while you're here, needless to say you could also visit Little Deep Lake since you're here; it's not far at all. Don't you try to stop me, cause I'm havin' a delightful time here at Little Ashes Lake. If you want a little side journey, try Gold Dust Rock, and getting to Dry Creek from Little Ashes Lake is trouble-free. You'll in fact wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the entertaining stuff in the Central Cascade Range. Little Ashes Lake sees pretty high levels of rain; most of the rain falls all through December; July meanwhile is the driest month.
