The Woods Lake Dam is a delightful spot right next door to Lake of the Woods, and from Lake of the Woods you get a splendid vista of Lone Mountain. During the warmest time of the year at Lake of the Woods temperatures are commonly in the 80's. Summer overnight lows sink down to the 40's. For the period of the wintertime the highs are frequently in the 30's; through the dark hours in the winter at Lake of the Woods temperatures plunge to the 10's. This lake

Interesting to see this area via google satelitte...in 1892 my paternal grandfather purchased 95.5 acres along the river at the China Bend area from the govt. It must have been repurchased by the Bureau of Reclamation when the Dam was being considered. Glad it's still beautiful.... |
