This is a popular spot for folks from Seattle-Tacoma-Bellevue, and on a lovely day you obtain a great vista of Cedar Mountain from Lake Kathleen. A round of golf at nearby Golf Club at Newcastle is a good way to kill some time; you can run the rapids of Cedar River. A tour to Mount Rainier National Park is worthwhile. Summer brings highs in the 70's to Lake Kathleen. All through       the dark hours of summer temperatures drop down into the 50's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 40's, and nighttime lows throughout the wintertime for Lake Kathleen tend to be in the 30's. This lake is so wonderful. If you want a brilliant time in the great outdoors, just come on down to Lake Kathleen. If you want to hit the beach, Alexander Beach is nearby, and a delightful site for whitewater paddling is Green River.
