If you are in Jefferson county it's always a good idea to stop by Jupiter Lakes. Camping is available at Lena Lake Campground, and a perfect close by hotel is Holiday Plaza Sequim Inn. So many entertaining things to do here in the Olympic Mountains, too great to be true. Looking for some flowing water? Try Gamm Creek; lots of folks from Shelton come here. This lake is so wonderful. A glorious site to camp here at Jupiter Lakes is Dosewallips Campground; whitewater

| | paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then, we recommend Duckabush River. This lake is so wonderful. A lake nearby is Harrison Lake, and since you're here you can take a hike along the Deadfall Trail. That right there is a heap already, but it carries on; Jupiter Lakes has it all. quite waterless regularly; all through the month of December you get the most rain around here, and July is the month with the least moisture. Jupiter Lakes is a beautiful lake in the Olympic Mountains. You could also check out
Silver Lake since you're here at Jupiter Lakes; it's close by; the view of Jupiter Hills is beautiful. Summertime highs at Jupiter Lakes commonly tend to be in the 60's, and through summer nights temperatures are in the 50's.
The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 40's while the cold winter nights at Jupiter Lakes are in the 30's. All year is a fine time in the Olympic Mountains if you love the outdoors. On a wonderful day at Jupiter Lakes
you can take a hike along the Mount Zion Trail, and if you come at the right time of year, Dosewallips River offers some great whitewater.

 | The doeswallip river road is washed out approx. 3 mi from the campground. You must park and walk to the campground/trailhead. These washouts occurred during 2001, and continued to get worse.... |
Upper Elk Lake
 | It's been about 6yrs. since I was last at upper Elk Lake,It was my most favorite place to camp. If you were lucky, and got the only camp site on the lake,the lake was yours. The water was so crystal clear, you could almost see the bottom. The fishing was't bad either. There are plenty of trails and creeks to explore.Including Jefferson creek, which will lead you to lower Elk Lake. My children loved this spot as much as I. There was also a rope swing on the other side of the lake.It was heaven. My youngest daughter traveled back to the lake this summer (2008). She says the lake is destroyed, with water plants and logs,she says the water is no longer clear. This makes me sad, I may just have to plan a trip to see for myself.... |

There is a boat launch which is very small and to the point. :) There is also a park for employees of a certain company which I forget the name of now. This lake is very clean and refreshing.
