     There are other places here than Homestead Lake, for example Williams Pond, and the skiing at Mt. Spokane is wonderful. Dry warm beds await you at Solar World Estates North. This lake is so wonderful. Not far from Homestead Lake, you'll locate Sacheen Lake which is a striking lake; Jerry's Landing Resort is a wonderful local campground. Summer at Homestead Lake arrives with high temperatures in the 80's, and through summer nights temperatures are in the 40's.  
   Daytime highs through the winter are in the 30's with temperatures at Homestead Lake dipping down into the 10's during winter nights.
You feel that's sufficient? Just getting warmed up. Looking for some flowing water? Try Moon Creek, and close by you find good places like Rogers Pass. Not much rain falls here at Homestead Lake; the month of December is the wettest with most of the snow, and July is when it's the driest. Ramada Limited Suites Spokane is
 
               a delightful place to get some rest; you can spend the day on the beach at Sandy Beach.
If you came for an overnight stay Bear Paw Camp & Retreat Center is a great location to camp; not far from Homestead Lake you obtain some splendid water scenery at Homestead Lake Dam.

...lifts, runs and a day lodge was completed and the area first operated for public use in late 1972. In 1976, the U.S. Forest Service approved a master plan allowing for continued upgrading and expansion within the existing Special Use Permit. A fourth lift was added in 1980 and new runs to support the lift have continued to attract an increasing number of visitors. In June of 1996 Chewelah Basin Ski Corporation was sold to the Eminger Family.
The ski area currently operates a full winter and limited summer schedule. The USFS permit area offers skiing on 905 acres with an additional 320 private acres of base and slope area for a total area of 1,225 acres. There are nearly 60 miles of groomed snowmobile trails adjacent to the ski area courtesy of the Washington State Department of Parks & Recreation. From November to April, five ski lifts serve a 541.7 acre trail network with a lift capacity of 1,888 skiers. Interesting to see this area via google satelitte...in 1892 my paternal grandfather purchased 95.5 acres along the river at the China Bend area from the govt. It must have been repurchased by the Bureau of Reclamation when the Dam was being considered. Glad it's still beautiful....
