If you are in Jefferson county it's always a good idea to stop by Home Lake. A brilliant site in close proximity to Home Lake is Constance Pass; nearby you stumble on the Baldy Trail which is a splendid hiking trail. This lake is so wonderful. Camping is available at River Campground. A pleasant place to camp here at Home Lake is Dosewallips Campground, and why not go to nearby Heather Creek since you're here at Home Lake. Not much precipitation falls

| | here at Home Lake; December is when you get the most rain here, and July is the month with the least moisture. This site, the Olympic Mountains, has so much outdoors entertaining things. After a long day outdoors Quality Inn & Suites is a great site to spend a night or two; get your heart pumping on the glorious whitewater of Dosewallips River. You just ought to like Home Lake. If you get bored of Home Lake, you could also have a look at close by Wildcat Lake; | |

you can run the rapids of Gray Wolf River. This lake is so wonderful. The Royal Creek Trail is a great hiking trail in close proximity to Home Lake; Juan De Fuca Cottages is a pleasant spot to get some rest. Home Lake is located
in the Olympic Mountains. If you fancy the outdoors you'll fancy it here in the Olympic Mountains. Going for a hike on the Tubal Cain Mine Trail is always a great adventure, and Lake Constance is a nearby lake that you could visit.
During the summer months, highs generally are in the 60's at Home Lake. When the night sets in temperatures fall down into the 50's. During the wintertime the highs are typically in the 40's with temperatures at Home Lake dipping down into the 30's during winter nights.

Upper Elk Lake
 | It's been about 6yrs. since I was last at upper Elk Lake,It was my most favorite place to camp. If you were lucky, and got the only camp site on the lake,the lake was yours. The water was so crystal clear, you could almost see the bottom. The fishing was't bad either. There are plenty of trails and creeks to explore.Including Jefferson creek, which will lead you to lower Elk Lake. My children loved this spot as much as I. There was also a rope swing on the other side of the lake.It was heaven. My youngest daughter traveled back to the lake this summer (2008). She says the lake is destroyed, with water plants and logs,she says the water is no longer clear. This makes me sad, I may just have to plan a trip to see for myself.... |
