Now, you may feel that's heaps but there's even more exciting stuff to do here at Hodge Lake. Soar down the rapids of Nisqually River in a kayak; do stop at Old Fort Lake, it's a wonderful lake. At Hodge Lake during the days of summer highs are in the 70's, and throughout the night it cools down to the 50's. All year is a pleasant time in the Northern Cascade Range if you have a thing about the outdoors. that gets the most rain; July on the other hand is the driest. So much exciting stuff to do here in the Northern Cascade Range, too good to be true. If you need a place to stay Best Western Lakewood Motor Inn is a nice choice;
you don't must go far to enjoy Adams Woods. If you come at the right time of year, Deschutes River offers some tremendous whitewater. There's so much to do here at Hodge Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Nisqually Plaza
RV Park is a good site for that. This lake is so wonderful. Why not take a look at nearby Red Salmon Creek while you're here at Hodge Lake, and a brilliant swamp in the vicinity of Hodge Lake is Edmond Marsh. This lake is so wonderful. The peak of Atkins Hill can be seen from Hodge Lake.

Nisqually River
 | ... now). The thing you should know about the Nisqually is that it is like most rivers, every year there is something new and unexpected. There are a few notable obstacles and log jams that have stuck over the past ten years or so. One of them is between McKenna and the Nisqually railroad trestle. It has been there as long as I can remember. But the river isn't too fast there and you should have plenty of time to get outta the way. The other problems are further down the river, the log jams that are past the Nisqually pines aren't too bad. Most of them are so far up on the river bank that only a few trees hang into the river ( not to say that there are none of them.) But the problem is that you raft right under the cliffs on FT. Lewis. They seem to like to throw cars off the cliffs and watch them hit the water.. Or this is a good way to dispose of stolen cars.. Because the water just churns and turns these cars into a spiky nightmare for the rafters and tubers of the Nisqually. I have yet to see one person go over the cars and not instantly blow there raft apart.. Just keep a good eye o... |
