Why not camp at Loon Lake Acres since you're here at Hirsch Pond, and you can hit the slopes at 49 Degrees North close by. Lakes? Sure, Jumpoff Jim Lake is close at hand, and do check out Jumpoff Jim Lake Dam while you're here. All through the warm days of summer highs here at Hirsch Pond reach the 80's while night lows are mostly in the 40's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 30's, and winter nights come with lows in the 10's to Hirsch Pond. This lake

| | is so wonderful. If you came for an overnight stay Deer Lake Resort is a fine spot to camp, and there are other sites here than Hirsch Pond, for example Beitey Lake. Hirsch Pond is a location that is quite arid usually; December is when you get the most snow here, and the driest month of the year is July. If you need a location to stay Days Inn and Suites Airway Heights/Spokane Airport is a fine choice. | |

 | 1 PHOTO ...easing number of visitors. In June of 1996 Chewelah Basin Ski Corporation was sold to the Eminger Family. The ski area currently operates a full winter and limited summer schedule. The USFS permit area offers skiing on 905 acres with an additional 320 private acres of base and slope area for a total area of 1,225 acres. There are nearly 60 miles of groomed snowmobile trails adjacent to the ski area courtesy of the Washington State Department of Parks & Recreation. From November to April, five ski lifts serve a 541.7 acre trail network with a lift capacity of 1,888 skiers. Skiers and visitors are provided support in the day lodge on a year-round basis and parking is presently available for approximately 595 vehicles. The Chewelah Basin Ski Corporation under a US Forest Service Special Use Permit operates all facilities. 49ø North Mountain Resort remains a local family oriented facility, with a growing emphasis as a small regional resort, supported by the amenities and accommodations available in the town of Chewelah.
