     All the water falling down from the sky makes Hamar Lake a wet site; of all the months in a year December is the one with the most rain; the driest month is July. Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Cascade River; there is a brilliant hiking trail nearby called the Hidden Lake Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Hamar Lake is a nice place to visit for more than one day, East Side Buck Creek Campground is a nice place  
   to camp nearby, and you acquire a tremendous panorama of Snowking Mountain from here.
Summertime highs at Hamar Lake frequently tend to be in the 70's with night lows in the 50's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 30's; overnight lows all through the winter for Hamar Lake tend to be in the 30's. There's just no way somebody can get bored here at Hamar Lake. You're most likely addicted to lakes, Enjar Lake is one of those nearby, and going for a hike
 
               on the Sulphur Mountain Way is always a wonderful adventure. Now, you may think that's loads but there's even more fun stuff to do here in the Northern Cascade Range.
And if that's not enough there's a lot more amusing things to do in the Northern Cascade Range. You'll need more than a day to discover everything Hamar Lake has to offer, you can camp at Cascade Islands Campground II, and a brilliant nearby hotel is Howard Johnson Snoqualmie/Summit. There are great places to look at along the Meadow Mountain Trail, and needless to say, this is a nice region for folks who like lakes, Arrowhead Lake is a lake in the vicinity. Hamar Lake is one of the lakes here in the Northern Cascade Range.

Cascade River
Did this section July 21, 2007 in a tandem canoe, at about 1850. Had never done this section before. The description above seems accurate. Several large log jams, some completely blocking the river, forcing us to take some long and rough portages through thick brush and over huge piles of logs. Even when the river is not blocked, there are serious strainers at every bend. You really have to be alert to avoid them. A lot of work and danger for the few fun class II rapids you get within the first mile or so. We spent nearly three hours on portages and scouting and only about one hour actually on the water. Not recommended....
