Summit Mountain is simple to spot from Gilbert Lake. There's so much to do here at Gilbert Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Pierre Lake Campground is a tremendous location for that. This lake is so wonderful. Dry warm beds await you at Comfort Inn Colville, and getting to Pierre Creek from Gilbert Lake is trouble-free.       Man, is there loads of fun stuff to do near Gilbert Lake. If you would like a little side journey, try Box Canyon; there are some nice whitewater spots on Sherman Creek. Gilbert Lake is a location that is reasonably waterless usually; throughout December this area sees the most snow, and September is when it's the driest. If you come at the right time of year, Kettle River offers some pleasant whitewater. Through the warm days of summer here at Gilbert                  Lake, high temperatures ordinarily get into the 80's. Summer nighttime lows sink down to the 40's. Highs through the winter are regularly in the 30's, and nighttime lows at Gilbert Lake through the winter usually sink into the 10's.
