     Here at Eloika Lake there are plenty of folks from Spokane, and Mt. Spokane is a very popular ski area nearby. The best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of close by 49 Degrees North; Spokane River has a great whitewater paddling spot close by. A golf course in the neighborhood of Eloika Lake is Antler Springs Golf Course; beaches are good and Sandy Beach is no exception.

   Spokane is a good location to spend a night or two; Eloika Lake is not the only site nearby, Dead Mans Lake is a nearby lake. This lake is so wonderful. Dry warm beds await you at Solar World Estates North; if you came for an overnight stay Jerry's Landing Resort is a nice place to camp. Throughout the warm months, highs regularly are in the 80's at Eloika Lake. When the night sets in temperatures drop down into the 40's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 30's,  
               and winter nights come with lows in the 10's to Eloika Lake.
A glorious place like Spring Meadow here at Eloika Lake is too delightful to miss, and paddling on Hangman Creek is so much fun. And that's not all you can do here at Eloika Lake. You could also pop by Little Trout Lake since you're here at Eloika Lake; it's nearby; Spokane Rv Resort is a delightful local campground. Around Eloika Lake you don’t get a lot of rainfall; the month of December is the wettest with most of the snow, and July is when it's the driest.

Ski Area History
The town of Chewelah (est. 1883) has long been a gateway for a myriad of outdoor recreational activities especially skiing. Skiing at Chewelah Peak (elev. 5,773 ft) has attracted numerous year-round recreational users since before the Flowery Trail Road was opened to motorized traffic in the early 1930?s. The Colville National Forest formally recognized the winter use of Chewelah Peak in approximately 1935. A permit was issued for development of a site approximately two miles west of the present site of 49ø North Mountain Resort. The completion of Cy?s Hut in 1936 and a rope tow in 1939 firmly established winter recreation on Chewelah Peak. Cy?s Hut burned in 1949. Interesting to see this area via google satelitte...in 1892 my paternal grandfather purchased 95.5 acres along the river at the China Bend area from the govt. It must have been repurchased by the Bureau of Reclamation when the Dam was being considered. Glad it's still beautiful....
