High temperatures at Lake Ellen through the summer months are in the 80's, and the night is a bit chillier of course, frequently in the 40's. Throughout the wintertime this place gets highs in the 20's with winter lows in the 10's overnight here at Lake Ellen. At Lake Ellen you don’t see much rain; through the month of December you get the most snow around here while October is usually the driest month. A lake close by       is Nicholas Lake, and there's great hiking along the Daisy Trail. But wait, there's more to do near Lake Ellen. The summit of Bald Hill can be seen from Lake Ellen, unsurprisingly you could also visit Mud Lake since you're here; it's not far at all. This lake is so wonderful. If time allows, Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area is a national park worth stopping at, and good hiking is available along the White Mountain Trail. If you come at the right                  time of year, Sherman Creek offers some good whitewater; why not camp at Lake Ellen Campground since you're here at Lake Ellen.
