    Why not stop by Elbow Lake if you're passing through these parts. Stay the night at Log Cabin Resort; you can run the rapids of Sherman Creek. Through the summertime at Elbow Lake temperatures are mostly in the 80's, and the nighttime is a little chillier of course, typically in the 40's. Throughout the winter this place gets highs in the 20's with winter lows in the 10's overnight here at Elbow Lake. Go for a hike on the White Mountain Trail; why not pop by a  
   swamp like Finley Meadows while you're here at Elbow Lake.
There are other locations here than Elbow Lake, for example Lake Ellen, and don't leave Elbow Lake without first going for a hike along the Daisy Trail. This lake is so wonderful. A brilliant panorama of beautiful Ant Mountain is available from Elbow Lake; everybody loves Peppermint Meadows.

               National Recreation Area is recommended; Elbow Lake is a magnificent place to visit for more than one day, Elbow Lake Campground is a magnificent place to camp nearby. Take a little visit to Cottonwood Creek since you're here at Elbow Lake; a magnificent place nearby is Chipmunk Canyon. Not much precipitation falls here at Elbow Lake; the month of December is the wettest with most of the snow; the driest of the months is October.
This lake is so wonderful. Not far from Elbow Lake, you'll discover Sugar Lake which is a beautiful lake; dry warm beds await you at Comfort Inn Colville.

Interesting to see this area via google satelitte...in 1892 my paternal grandfather purchased 95.5 acres along the river at the China Bend area from the govt. It must have been repurchased by the Bureau of Reclamation when the Dam was being considered. Glad it's still beautiful....
