Why not stop by Dry Pond if you're passing through these parts. All through the summer highs here at Dry Pond reach the 70's, and the overnight is a little chillier of course, typically in the 50's. Throughout the winter highs are usually in the 40's; after the sun is down during the wintertime temperatures at Dry Pond fall into the 30's. This lake is so wonderful. If you're visiting Dry Pond from Shelton, you won't be the only one, and swamps like The Peat
Bog near Dry Pond make for glorious places to have a look at. The high level of rain makes Dry Pond a quite wet place; the month of December is the wettest with most of the rain; the driest of the months is July.
Dry Pond is one of the lakes here in the Olympic Mountains. In the event that you don’t have a problem getting dripping wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Jefferson Creek, and if you need a site to stay Alderbrook Resort And Spa is a perfect

choice. Good hiking is available along the Mount Jupiter Trail, and a lake close by is Pickers Pond.
So much amusing stuff to do at Dry Pond, so little time. Dry Pond is great enough to spend more than a day at, Summertide Resort is a great local campground, and Maggie Lake is a nearby lake that you could visit. Just can't get enough of the Olympic Mountains. A magnificent spot for whitewater paddling near Dry Pond is Hamma Hamma River; a wonderful close by hotel is Super 8 Motel - Shelton. And if that's not enough there's lots more cool stuff to do in the Olympic Mountains. Camping at Lake Trask Timber Trails Assn is always a pleasant experience.

This is mainly a private lake for people who have houses on it. It is great for boats and inter tubing and swimming all the same :)  Love this Lake!!...THERE IS A PUBLIC AREA AT THIS PARK,BOATING SWIM AND PICNIC AREA...

Upper Elk Lake
11 miles away
It's been about 6yrs. since I was last at upper Elk Lake,It was my most favorite place to camp. If you were lucky, and got the only camp site on the lake, the lake was yours. The water was so crystal clear, you could almost see the bottom. The fishing was't bad either. There are plenty of trails and creeks to explore.Including Jefferson creek, which will lead you to lower Elk Lake. My children loved this spot as much as I. There was also a rope swing on the other side of the lake.It was heaven. My youngest daughter traveled back to the lake this summer (2008). She says the lake is destroyed, with water plants and logs, she says the water is no longer clear. This makes me sad, I may just have to plan a trip to see for myself....
