     While you're here at Downs Lake, you could also visit picturesque Stoner Lake, and dry warm beds await you at Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites CHENEY-UNIVERSITY AREA. Do take a look at Feustal Lake close to Downs Lake, it's a lovely lake, and if you came to camp Last Roundup Motel and RV Park is a delightful location to do that. This lake is so wonderful. Willow Springs Motel near EWU is a wonderful place to get some rest. There's so much to do here at Downs  
   Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Williams Lake Resort is a brilliant place for that.
Around Downs Lake you don’t get a lot of precipitation; December is when you get the most snow here, and the driest month is August. All through the warmest time of the year, highs usually are in the 80's at Downs Lake. Once the sun is down it sinks down to the 50's. The winter brings highs down to the 30's, and through the dark hours in the winter at Downs Lake temperatures drop to the 10's.

Interesting to see this area via google satelitte...in 1892 my paternal grandfather purchased 95.5 acres along the river at the China Bend area from the govt. It must have been repurchased by the Bureau of Reclamation when the Dam was being considered. Glad it's still beautiful....
