Everybody loves Garrison Flat, and dry warm beds await you at Comfort Inn Colville. This lake is so wonderful. Douglass Lake is perfect enough to spend more than a day at, East Sullivan - Colville National Forest is a perfect local campground, and fine skiing awaits you at 49 Degrees North. The peak of Old Town Mountain can be observed from Douglass Lake, and Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area is a very tremendous place to go to. Nearby Jack Hook Gulch is a delightful place to go if you're at Douglass Lake, and not far from Douglass Lake you'll hit upon May Lake which is a stunning lake. A tremendous place to camp here at Douglass Lake is Noisy Creek - Colville National Forest; since you might
be in a lake visiting mood you can always explore nearby Potter Lake. Now, you may think that's lots but there's even more entertaining stuff to do here at Douglass Lake. Douglass Falls is an inspiring spot to pop by during your stay, and near Douglass Lake you locate a golf course called Dominion Meadows Golf Course.

Interesting to see this area via google satelitte...in 1892 my paternal grandfather purchased 95.5 acres along the river at the China Bend area from the govt. It must have been repurchased by the Bureau of Reclamation when the Dam was being considered. Glad it's still beautiful.... |

Climate
The climate at 49ø North Mountain Resort is similar to other higher altitude mountain settings; however, due to its geographical location, the ski area experiences different weather patterns than other Pacific Northwest ski areas. Situated in the southern Selkirk Mountains, the ski area has a unique climate due to its location one mile east of Flowery Trail Pass (4,046 ft) that produces moderate temperatures with consistent snow pack at higher elevations. The total snowfall at the ski area averages 300 inches or more, while the total average annual precipitation at the ski area is 36.10 inches, with 69 percent of the precipitation coming as snow between November to April.
