Crane Lake is located in the Northern Cascade Range. You're most likely keen on lakes, Bear Lake is one of those nearby, and if you're looking for some flowing water? Try Smith Creek. This lake is so wonderful. Going for a hike along the Smith Creek Butte Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this neighborhood; Muddy River has a perfect whitewater paddling spot nearby. Crane Lake is a rather wet place generally with a lot of rainfall; December is the wettest month with most rain, and July meanwhile is the driest month. Lewis River - North Fork is so much fun. There's no way somebody can get bored here in the Northern Cascade Range. While you're here at Crane Lake you can take a hike along the Muddy River Trail; a nice place to camp here at Crane Lake is Curly Creek Campground.

 | 13 miles away 2/3 of the lake is gone. Kalama River now flows right thru the middle of what used to be the lake. It is amazing to see. The 8100 road is washed out at mile 11 so plan on a 2 mile walk....McBride Lake is no longer in existance. Though I will have this confirmed on July 23, 2008. It is my understanding that during the 2007/2008 winter, a massive land slide occurred which filled the lake.
