not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend Summit Creek. Lakes? Sure, Lost Hat Lake is close at hand. The high level of precipitation makes Coyote Lake a reasonably wet location; January is when you get the most snow
here, and the driest month of the year is July. And if that's not sufficient there's a lot more exciting things to do in the Northern Cascade Range. Going for a hike along the Clear Lost Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty
of this neighborhood, and there are other places here than Coyote Lake, for example Lost Lake. This lake is so wonderful. This lake is so wonderful. If the weather is good here at Coyote Lake, you can go for a hike along the Coyote Trail, and do pay a visit to Mount Rainier National Park while you're here at Coyote Lake.

For this particular mountain, the typical route is known as a ''herd path'' which is not much more than a worn, but unmarked trail. Some of the herd paths are easy to follow, others are not. In many instances the hiker will travel down a false herd path and eventually have to correct his/her course via backtracking. For these particular mountains, it is imperative that the hiker carry a compass (and know how to use it) and topographic map.... |

Granite Lake
 | 13 miles away Granite Lake has crystal clear water, is surrounded by a very primtive campground. I don't recall how many campsites there are, but I have never been there when there was more than one other party. The surrounding area is incredibly beautiful, well worth the extremely rough road in. 4 wheel drive only. There is an abandoned copper mine in the area, and if you can find the trailhead, (good luck), the scenery is breathtaking. I've been to the mine 3 times. Watch out for bears! There is a ghost town below the copper mine. Very little is left. There are picnic tables, no water and no bathrooms. Come prepared.... |
