At Cooney Lake during the summertime months highs are in the 80's. Through the moonlight hours it's ordinarily in the 50's. All through the winter highs are usually in the 30's with temperatures at Cooney Lake dipping down into the 20's throughout winter nights. Get your heart beating on the great whitewater of Methow River, and if you're here, you could also pop by scenic Sunrise       Lake. Life's too short to enjoy all the amusing stuff in the Northern Cascade Range. Skiing at Echo Valley is one of those things you just have to do, and the summit of Mount Bigelow can be seen from Cooney Lake. This lake is so wonderful. A visit to Horsethief Basin revives the spirit, and on a pleasant day you can take a hike along the Devils Backbone Trailbike Loop Trail. Be careful coming to Cooney Lake, you might not ever wanna go home again. Martin                  Lakes is a nearby lake that you could have a look at; whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then, we recommend Twisp River. This lake is so wonderful. So much entertaining stuff in the Northern Cascade Range, just astonishing. There is a good hiking trail right next door to Cooney Lake called the Hunters Trail, and if you came for an overnight stay South Navarre Campground is a brilliant spot to camp. This lake is one of the great places here in the Northern Cascade Range. Safety Harbor Creek Campground is a wonderful campground nearby, and if you fancy a little side trip, try Horsehead Pass.
