It's always fun to stop by Claywood Lake. There's no way somebody can get bored here in the Olympic Mountains. A great site for whitewater paddling near Claywood Lake is Skokomish River - North Fork, and camping is available at Heart of the Hills Campground. This lake is one of the great places here in the Olympic Mountains. High temperatures at Claywood Lake during the warm months are in the 70's. Summer night lows descend down to the 50's. Highs through the

| | winter are ordinarily in the 40's while the cold winter nights at Claywood Lake are in the 30's. So many cool things to do in the Olympic Mountains, not enough time. Near Claywood Lake you stumble on the Lake Creek Trail which is a perfect hiking trail, and everybody nearby loves skiing at Hurricane Ridge Ski Lodge. This lake is so wonderful. You can run the rapids of Skokomish River - North Fork near Claywood Lake, and a trip to Olympic National Park is | |

worthwhile. Man, is there lots of fun stuff to do right next door to Claywood Lake. At Claywood Lake you can make out Mount Claywood, and there are brilliant places to look at along the Long Ridge Trail. This lake is so wonderful.
A great site to camp here at Claywood Lake is Deer Park Campground, and naturally, A visit to Cameron Pass is always fun. A fine close by hotel is Best Western Olympic Lodge, and since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can
always have a look at close by Frog Lake. Claywood Lake is a relatively wet place typically with lots of precipitation; of all the months in a year December is the one with the most rain, and July on the other hand is the driest.
After a long day outdoors Port Angeles Super 8 Motel is a pleasant spot to spend a night or two, and going for a hike on the Elwha River Trail is always a pleasant adventure.
