     Calispell Lake Dam is picturesque and it's in the vicinity of Calispell Lake, and Newport Ranger District is a forest that you can go to. You'll locate a beautiful lake called Davis Lake near Calispell Lake, and wonderful skiing awaits you at 49 Degrees North. This lake is so wonderful. Take a side visit to Small Creek, and Outpost Resort is a wonderful local campground. At Calispell Lake you don’t see much precipitation; the wettest month of the year is  
   mostly December, that's the one that snows the most while July is regularly the driest month.
For the duration of the long summer days highs here at Calispell Lake reach the 80's, and throughout summer nights temperatures are in the 40's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 30's with temperatures at Calispell Lake dipping down into the 10's during winter nights. A beautiful lake like Law Lake in the vicinity of Calispell Lake is a wonderful site to
 
               stop by, and if you came for an overnight stay Bear Paw Camp & Retreat Center is a great spot to camp. Life's too short to enjoy all the fun stuff close to Calispell Lake. There's no such thing as a bad day of skiing at nearby Mt. Spokane.

... of Usk. Flowery Trail Road from the town of Chewelah is a paved, two-lane road that underwent an extensive face-lift courtesy of the Federal Highways Department. Flowery Trail Road from Usk was also re-aligned and paved offering a beautiful new route to our parking lot. The project was completed prior to the 2006/2007 winter season.
Climate
The climate at 49ø North Mountain Resort is similar to other higher altitude mountain settings; however, due to its geographical location, the ski area experiences different weather patterns than other Pacific Northwest ski areas. Situated in the southern Selkirk Mountains, the ski area has a unique climate due to its location one mile east of Flowery Trail Pass (4,046 ft) that produces moderate temperatures with consistent snow pack at higher elevations. The total snowfall at the ski area averages 300 inches or more, while the total average annual precipitation at the ski area is 36.10 inches, with 69 percent of the precipitation coming as snow between November to April.

Interesting to see this area via google satelitte...in 1892 my paternal grandfather purchased 95.5 acres along the river at the China Bend area from the govt. It must have been repurchased by the Bureau of Reclamation when the Dam was being considered. Glad it's still beautiful....
