     All our national parks are glorious places to stop at, and Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area is no exception. Lakes are good; Empire Lake is a lake that's right next door to Lake Butte. A fine place to camp here at Lake Butte is Fisherman's Cove Resort, and there is a wonderful hiking trail close by called the Bodie Tonata Creek Trail. This is a great vicinity for people who like lakes. Ward Lake is a lake in close proximity, and nearby you find the Empire  
   Drive Trail which is a great hiking trail. The warmest time of the year at Lake Butte arrives with high temperatures in the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures drop down into the 40's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 20's; night lows all through the winter for Lake Butte tend to be in the 10's.
Now, you may assume that's plenty but there's even more amusing stuff to do here at Lake Butte. If you're here at Lake Butte, you could take a look
 
               at North Fork Trout Creek, and on a brilliant day you can take a hike along the Laws Trail. This lake is so wonderful. A journey to Louis Spring will fill your soul with wonderful feelings, and camping at Tiffany's Resort is always a brilliant experience.
Lake Butte is a location that is reasonably waterless commonly; December is the wettest month with most snow while October is generally the driest month.

Com will give you a list of events and activities for the current year. Our Fairgrounds is also a home to a working 1900 Merry-Go-Round. Can be rented by the hour for private events and open to the public during special events.

Fishing at Curlew Lake that is open year round brings many campers to Republic. Trout, Bass and Tiger Muskie live in these cold waters. Many of the fishermen catch their limit (5) of rainblow trout within an hour. Public boat launch (free) is just down the road from the Campground.

There are many scenic routes in the area too. A motorcyclists dream. Ride for hours, little to no traffic, sometimes called ''God's Country'', with some windy picturesque sights. Many places to stop, take breaks, picnic lunch and sights see along the Highland Historic Loop Drive.

We encourage and cater to large groups as well as individual campers. All get the same respec...

Interesting to see this area via google satelitte...in 1892 my paternal grandfather purchased 95.5 acres along the river at the China Bend area from the govt. It must have been repurchased by the Bureau of Reclamation when the Dam was being considered. Glad it's still beautiful....
