Browns Lake is a very beautiful lake in beautiful surroundings. But wait, there's more to do next to Browns Lake. If you get bored of Browns Lake, you could also take a look at close by Kings Lake, and skiing at 49 Degrees North is one of those things you just have to do. This lake is so wonderful. North Skookum Lake is a nearby lake that you could stop at; on a great day you can take a hike along the Hanna Flast Nature Trail. From a rainfall point of view

| | Browns Lake is a pretty common site; the month of December is the wettest with most of the snow, and July is when it's the driest. There is a great hiking trail next to Browns Lake called the Chipmunk Rapids National Recreation Trail, and why not camp at Browns Lake Campground since you're here at Browns Lake. If you came for an overnight stay North Skookum Campground is a magnificent place to camp, and don't forget to take a nice little visit to Split Creek. | |

All through the summer months at Browns Lake temperatures are mostly in the 80's. For the period of the moonlight hours it's mostly in the 40's. Daytime highs through the winter are in the 30's; overnight lows at Browns Lake through the winter generally dip into the 10's.

The USFS permit area offers skiing on 905 acres with an additional 320 private acres of base and slope area for a total area of 1,225 acres. There are nearly 60 miles of groomed snowmobile trails adjacent to the ski area courtesy of the Washington State Department of Parks & Recreation. From November to April, five ski lifts serve a 541.7 acre trail network with a lift capacity of 1,888 skiers. Skiers and visitors are provided support in the day lodge on a year-round basis and parking is presently available for approximately 595 vehicles. The Chewelah Basin Ski Corporation under a US Forest Service Special Use Permit operates all facilities. 49ø North Mountain Resort remains a local family oriented facility, with a growing emphasis as a small regional resort, supported by the amenities and accommodations available in the town of Chewelah.
