local campground. Blue Lake Dam is an out of the ordinary thing to check out, and a good nearby hotel is Best Western Peppertree Inn at Omak. Blue Lake is a beautiful lake in the Northern Cascade Range. What a place this is for
outdoors people. If you get bored of Blue Lake, you could also stop at nearby Sinlahekin Impoundment Number Two, and you'll never forgive yourself if you don’t go skiing at Loup Loup Ski Bowl if you're here. Don't leave Blue Lake
without first going for a hike along the Sarsapkin Creek Trail, and if you came to camp Sugarloaf Campgrounds is a nice place to do that.

Funk Mountain Trail
 | My husband and I, along with my sister and her boyfriend all hiked Funk Mountain Trail in June this year (2009). The trail mentioned here is mostly a cattle grazing area now, but you can hike up the old road to the Lookout, about 1.5 miles. Once there, the view is truly great. Be careful at the Lookout. I don't know how safe it is so use plenty of caution. The hike was fun; we met some friendly ATV'ers on the way up. There was an abundance of butterflies, and hot, yellow sunshine streaming down. This is an excellent hike for beginners, or those with bad knees or new shoes. The vistas are very pleasant, and there are no crowds.
The nearby town of Conconully is another high point for this trip. It's very small and has a contented, peaceful ambience. Conconully Lake doesn't have a great swim beach, but it's enjoyable for a canoe or kayak paddle on a warm day. ... |
