Black and White Lakes sees pretty high levels of precipitation; during the month of December you get the most rain around here, and the driest month of the year is July. This is no spot for people who don’t like to have fun. Going for a hike along the Elwha River Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this area, and if you're popping by from Shelton, you won't be the only one.       So many fun things to do in the Olympic Mountains, not enough time. The Baldy Trail is a splendid hiking trail near Black and White Lakes. Black and White Lakes is a beautiful lake in the Olympic Mountains. This lake is so wonderful. Brown Creek Campground is a splendid local campground; swing by Eight Stream it's a great location to explore. One of the dominant traits of the surroundings of Black and White Lakes is Mount Cruiser; since you might be in a lake                  visiting mood you can always go to close by Flapjack Lakes. This site, the Olympic Mountains, has so much outdoors exciting things. Why not camp at Staircase Campground while you're here at Black and White Lakes, and not far from Black and White Lakes you'll come across Murdock Lakes which is a beautiful lake. If the weather is fine here at Black and White Lakes, you can go for a hike along the Royal Creek Trail, and Skokomish River - North Fork is a splendid whitewater spot nearby. During the warmest time of the year highs here at Black and White Lakes get into the 70's. Summer overnight lows drop down to the 40's.
